3D PAPER EASTER EGG ORNAMENTS (WITH FREE TEMPLATE)

March 23, 2019

Easter is a late one this year, which is kind of nice because I always enjoyed Easter in warmer temperatures.  And to be quite frank, things with the reno have been quite hectic, so I haven't been able to focus on this special holiday at all until now.

Today's project is easy, and with paper of course, but it's the simple projects that I like best!

To make these 3D egg ornaments, gather the most beautiful papers that you have, preferably ones that denote Spring like flowers and pastel colours.  Mix in a few solid colours, maybe some metallic or glitter, or whatever floats your boat.  Then read on for the tutorial.

TOOLS & MATERIALS:

DIRECTIONS:

1.  Download this free SVG template of an Easter egg (or if you don't have a Silhouette, use this PDF template to trace the shape onto paper and cut with scissors).  Place the first sheet on the cutting mat, and cut as many as you need.  You will need five to six different egg patterns to form one three-dimensional egg.

2.  Score each of the eggs right down the middle and then fold in half with the pattern side in.

3. Cut about 3" of ribbon and fold it in half.  Use the crafter's tape to adhere both ends to one of the folded shapes leaving about 2" at the top for hanging.

4. Continue gluing all the shapes together to complete the shape of a 3D egg.
