Treat yourself, friends or family to these easy-to-make marshmallow pops with make-it-yourself custom toppers.
Originally, I was going to make this post with heart-shaped confetti and toppers, seeing as Valentine's is just days away. But, this sweet treat, which takes very little time to prepare, can be made for any occasion or "everyday", with rainbow-round sprinkles and a topper of your choice (or none at all!)
MAKE THE TREATS FIRST:
From a grocery store, buy a package of large marshmallows, sprinkles, and semi-sweet chocolate for baking. You will also need lollipop sticks.
I made six pops, and for that I melted 1 oz. of chocolate for two minutes in the microwave.
While the chocolate melts, stick a lollipop stick in the centre of the marshmallows. Prepare a bowl of sprinkles.
Dip one marshmallow at a time into the chocolate, which should be smooth and thick, then dip the marshmallow into the sprinkles. Set it upside down in a shallow bowl (I used a glass measuring cup). Do this for all marshmallows, then place the bowl in the refrigerator for about half an hour to cool the chocolate.
MAKE THE TOPPERS:
While the pops cool off, make the toppers. I used the 1 1/4 inch square scallop punch from EK Success to make mine. I made 6 shapes in each colour from card stock I already had.
When the marshmallow pops have cooled, use a hot glue gun to adhere the toppers to the lollipop sticks and to each other. I pasted two colours back-to-back.
The pops can be served immediately.
If you make these too, let me know what you think of them. I thought they were delicious (and hubby couldn't keep his paws off them either). Enjoy!
