"HEART" AIR BALLOON CANDY TREATS FOR VALENTINE'S (WITH FREE TEMPLATE)
Just like Halloween, candy is big around here at Valentine's. And I love making candy treats, such as my candy dispenser machines that were popular two years ago. Today, I'm showing you another creative idea that you can steal that makes giving candy at Valentine's that much more special: "heart" air balloons!
This craft is easy to assemble, and then once you're finished, just add all the heart candy your heart desires. I mixed in some hard white and red heart-shaped candies with the usual cinnamon hearts and conversation hearts. My 6-year-old daughter already took a balloon with her, so I'd say that this project was already a hit!
TOOLS & MATERIALS:
Card stock in pink or red or colours that match your baking cups
2" dia. baking cups (from a dollar store)
Download this free SVG file for the heart. It is just over 3". If you do not have a Silhouette at home, you can cut and trace the shape from this PDF file. Each 3D heart or "balloon" needs six hearts to come together, so make at least three in each set of colour. Then score and fold them all in the middle.
Tape the hearts together using the crafter's tape.
Use hot glue to adhere two lollipop sticks opposite each other to the inside of a baking cup.
Then add two small dabs of glue to the heart balloon, and stick it to the other end of the lollipop sticks, thus completing your "heart" air balloon!
Total project time: about 45 minutes for six "heart" air balloons.
