DIY POM POM ICE CREAM CUPS
Here's a project that was totally inspired by my kids' badges post from earlier this week. You'll notice a few similarities between that project and this one today. That's because when I was making the badges, I noticed that the shape I created plus the paper cup used to hold the confetti when put together kind of looked like melted ice cream!
Then it hit me, add some poms and I have a cute little project! Therefore, as one last hurrah for summer, read on below for how to make these adorable ice cream cups using the same shape with your Silhouette maker.
TOOLS & MATERIALS:
Card stock paper in a variety of colours
2 1/2" dia. baking cups (see shopping guide at bottom of post)
Yarn in a variety of colours
1/2" round wood beads (with holes)
1. Download this free SVG file and cut the shape on paper in different colours. Hot glue each shape to the top of a baking cup.
2. Make the pom poms, and trim them up. Insert a pom into each cup. By mixing colours, you can create "double flavoured" ice cream, like cotton candy or vanilla mint.
3. Paint the beads red to create "cherries" for each ice cream treat.
4. For each bead, insert a length of jute twine, and double-knot one end. Cut the other side to about one inch long for the "stem". Hot glue each cherry to the top of a pom for a completed ice cream look.
Total time: about 20 minutes per ice cream cup (not including drying time).
