METALLIC WASHI TAPE BUMBLE BEES

It occurred to me this week when I made this project that bees don’t in fact have to be yellow and black - that’s the beauty of writing a creative blog.
So when I couldn’t find black washi in my stash, I changed it up completely and used my favourite metallic tapes to create adorable, shiny “bumble bees” for summer!
TOOLS & MATERIALS:
Metallic washi tape (see bottom of post for shopping guide)
Scissors
Glitter card stock in matching colours
Paper trimmer (optional)
Hole punch
1” circle punch
Tape (optional)
DIRECTIONS (PER BEE):

1. Use the larger of the two punches to make a yellow circle for the bee’s body. Add three strips of tape, then turn over and cut off the over hang.
2. Punch a circle of the same size in the glitter paper and then cut it in half (I used a paper trimmer, but scissors work too). Hole punch opposite corners and add a hole to the top of the bee's body as well.

3. Insert a brad through the holes you created and secure it.
4. Use the small circle punch to cut a little more than a semi-circle for the head on the black paper, and slide it behind the wings on the bee. If it doesn’t hold, use tape to secure it.

Total project time: approximately 20 minutes for 6 bees.
